Is it okay to take a relatively high number of Cds with me through the airport ?
I’m in the states, and leaving overseas.
The Cds are actually my OWN album (I’m the artist / composer), and properly packaged (shrink wrapped) , I want to take with me around 50-80 copies or more.
I will put them in gift boxes, and divide them between my 2 checked-in bags and carry-on and laptop suitcase.
1. would the people at the airport have problem with that ?
2. could the X-ray machine either for carry-on or for checked-in luggage alert them so i might not get MY OWN Cds?
3. do you suggest some way to take them with me and avoid any potential problems ? I HAVE to take them with me.

Thanks, i’m not worried about the country i’m visiting (i sorta got that covered), i’m more concerned with the country i’m leaving (USA), would they ask at the airport?
Well, customs will probably challenge you and ask you for your intent. If they believe you will be selling them, you’re in trouble. This will be equal to working and if you don’t have the correct visa for this, it’s not allowed.
It doesn’t matter who produced the Cds.
You don’t say why you want to bring the Cds, are they gifts? I can tell you what I would think if I was the customs officer:
Ok, this bloke will probably be working, performing at various clubs. These Cds will be for sale.He is not a genuine tourist and if that is the visa he got, he will be on the next plane home.
I’m sorry to be a pessimist but it’s up to you to prove that you are visiting the country as a tourist. Bringing a bulk load of Cds AND you are an artist. This will raise suspicions.
