Steel Wire
Can electrical currencys from fruits be transferred into energy for an alarm clock using a steel wire?
I wanted to know if i could use a steel wire for my science project instead of copper. would it work??
To make a crude battery from a single fruit, you need to have 2 different kinds of metals. Copper and Steel will produce voltage directly by “sticking” the wires into the fruit.
Most of the time when you do this kind of “experiment”, you use zinc and carbon taken from an old 1.5V battery (if you take apart an alkaline battery, use rubber gloves). If you use carbon and zinc as your fruit electrodes, then steel wire will work OK.
Keep in mind, that you don’t get too much power from a fruit battery. It may not be enough to power a battery alarm clock. You might have to connect 2 or 3 pieces of fruit together to get enough power. (Lemons and other citrus fruits work best)

Choosing A Binding System : Four Reasons To Choose Twin Loop Wire Binding
